Moral vs Social vs Intellectual Virtues
Did the Stoics recognize differences in type for the virtues?
They considered Wisdom, Courage, Temperance, and Justice to be cardinal virtues. All other virtues were "secondary". Were secondary virtues tied to a single cardinal virtue or could they be related to more than one?
Identifying virtues as M, S, or I shortened the list considerably
The only things left in my "Moral Virtue" category right now are:
- Integrity
- Self-discipline
- Temperance
- Independence
- Purposefulness
- Integrity
- Consideration
- Righteousness
- Accountability
- Courage
- Justice
- Truthfulness
And there are a few that I could not sort out immediately:
- Devotion
- Cleanliness
- Faithfulness
- Steadfastness
- Resilience
Also, I noticed a lot of overlap in the social virtues. If I decide not to examine these I'll save a ton of time.
