  • even within an established tradition, there can be differences in meta-ethics
  • using values is a good way to eas into ethics, but it is not nearly as comprehensive as any of the traditions that it accomodates
  • we want to be as inclusive as possible so we seem to avoid looking for irreconcilable differences while concentrating on similarities
